Mehendi Competition
We the students of sabarigiri college of education conducted a Mehendi competition as part of our NSS unit. The programme was inaugurated by respected principal Dr Meera raj maam.Total 10 groups participated in the mehendi competition.Arts. Pinky and Devika from natural science bagged first prize. Alin and Gatha from maths share the second prize.
And the third prize was shared by three groups.
The art of Henna—called mehndi in Hindi and Urdu—has been practiced in Pakistan, India, Africa, and the Middle East for over 5000 years. It was originally used for its natural cooling properties for the people living in hot desert climates.
Generally, Arabic (Middle-Eastern) mehndi features large, floral patterns on hands and feet, while Indian (Asian) mendhi uses fine lines, lacy, floral and paisley patterns covering entire hands, forearms, feet and shins; and African mehndi art is large and bold, with geometrically patterned angles
