Teaching Practice Phase 2

Week 1 - 10/6/2024- 14/06/2024
Our second phase teaching practice is usually held in the month of June. The school allocated to me was AMMHS, Karavaloor. We were a total six B.Ed trainees alloted to the school. The B.Ed trainees were Vignesh.H, Devika, Sruthi, Keerthana, Sreelekshmi and myself.
We were all given guidelines and instructions by all our beloved teachers and principal.
The classes alloted to me by the head of biology was 9C and 8D.
Reflection on School Experience

On our first day for the teaching practice, all of us reached the school by 9 a.m and had a short brief by the principal. Thereafter we signed the attendance register.
They gave us a warm welcome.
We joined the teachers for the prayer. Following prayer we were given few instructions and the list of substitution classes for the day.
I had class in 9C during the fourth period. The topic "Biomolecules needed for cell growth and maintenance" from Unit 1: To life processes was taken. I used the activity lesson plan for the class. The learning aids used included flow charts and unfilled charts with word cards.

On the second day, I reached the college by 9.00 a.m and signed the attendance in the principal's room. I kept all my belongings at the room allocated and activity aids in the room alloted for us. I came to the staffroom for the prayer session. After the prayer session we were alloted the substitution classes for the day. The substitution class given to me was 8D during the third period. The students were cooperative and were good listeners. I taught them the topic "Compound Microscope - Parts and functions.
I used learning aids like description charts, charts showing labelled diagram, charts showing unfilled table.
In the afternoon, by 1 p.m we had our lunch.
After that I got class in 9C during the eighth period. I took the topic "types of metabolism". I used description charts, charts showing flowchart, charts showing unfilled table.
The students responded well to the questions.
By around 3.30 p.m the class for the day concluded. By 3.45 p.m, after signing the attendence register we left the school.

Today marked our third day in AMMHS . We were all happy. After the prayer I was alloted substitution in 5C during the third period. I conducted a an essay competition for the kids. They really enjoyed it.
I got substitution in 8D during the fourth period, as it was a class alloted to me I took the topic "Light Adjustment parts in microscope". I used activity based lesson plan. Activity aids included description charts. Both individual and group activity was given.
The lunch break began by 1 p.m.
At 2.00 p.m the students and teachers were informed to assemble on the ground for Kalajaadha: Janabodhan 2024 anti drugs campaign. A street play and drama was presented before the students. The programme was concluded by 3.00 p.m. A short break was given to students after which the 8th period commenced.
The classes ended by 3.30 p.m. After the national anthem, the school got dispersed. After signing the attendance I left the school by 3.45 p.m.

I reached the school by 9.00 a.m. After signing the attendance I kept my belongings in the room allocated. By 9.40 we reached the staffroom for prayer. After the prayer first hour began. I had class during seventh period in 8D. I took the topic " Steps for the preparation of observation material". Learning aids such as demonstration materials like observation material, blade, water, petridish,brush, watch glass, stain, Glycerine, slide, cover slip, tissue paper. Both individual and group activity was given.
The classes ended by 3.30 p.m. I left the college after signing the attendance by 3.45 p.m

I reached the school by 9.00 a.m. After signing the attendance I kept my belongings in the room allocated. By 9.40 we reached the staffroom for prayer. After the prayer first hour began. I had a substitution in 7B during the fourth period. I supervised a test paper on basic science.
I got 9C for substitution during the last period.
I taught them the topic "enzymes and proteins-Functions and examples".
The activities given include both group and individual activity. The learning aids used included description charts on enzymes, hormones and an activity card on the function and examples of enzymes and hormones.
Cocurricular and Curricular Activities.
The students introduced to the topic through real life examples and demonstration using Activity Aids.
I used the activity lesson plan for all the classes.
For teaching I used description charts, charts showing labelled diagram, flow chart and both individual and group activity was given
Six lesson plans were completed.

Overall Reflection of Class Room Experience
The students of 8th and 9th standard were given activity based lessons. Three lesson plans of class 8 and three from 9th standard was completed. There were description charts, unfilled chart, flow charts, charts showing labelled diagrams.
Students were given follow-up activities like assignments.
Respective notes were given during the class and were checked.
